Johanu Botha - Class of 2008 Why did you choose MCI? MCI had an undeniable draw to it for a Grade Eight student going into High School. The atmosphere experienced during a "Day in a Life" was fun and open. Teachers were friendly and humorous. This and a strange feeling that I 'needed' to go here was what led to me choosing MCI. Based on your time here, why should others choose MCI? MCI offers a unique atmosphere in which all teens can strive to be themselves without being looked down upon. At MCI, students grow into the people they are meant to be, as opposed to the people their peers want them to be. It's the only place where I have seen teenagers be this accepting and supportive of others. If you want to discover all the great stuff YOU have to offer; MCI is where you should go. How did MCI impact your life? Incredibly. Teachers quickly spotted what I was good at and help me thrive in it. I easily found opportunities to participate and excel in things I loved to do...things I was not aware of before I came. I left MCI with a confidence in who I was and what I want to do. What were your experiences with the musical theatre program at MCI? MCI's musical theatre program is above and beyond any high school in the area and its name is growing. Audiences literally include people from all over Manitoba...from Gretna to Brandon to Churchill. The current directors are fantastic and manage to find the right place for everybody. Whether you're a limelight person or simply glad to be apart of it all in the background...the directors will make it happen. MCI musicals construct a journey in which you build friendships and relationships with a unique blend, the fiction created on stage is as fun as it gets and it all culminates in three big nights where you get to take people out of their normal lives for a while and into a different, exciting world.
