Are all students at MCI Mennonite?

No.  While many come from Mennonite homes, each year we welcome students from a variety of faith and ethnic backgrounds into our student body.  Students represent numerous other Christian denominations (Catholic, Lutheran, United, Pentecostal), other faiths (Jewish, Muslim), and students without a faith tradition of any kind.  Many students claim a personal faith, but this is not a requirement for entry or for study at MCI.

What grades of study does MCI offer?

Grades 9-12

Do all courses receive credit from Manitoba Education?

Yes, every course does.

How much does it cost to attend MCI?

The cost for grades 9-12, basic in-province tuition is $5,350. For Canadian students outside Manitoba, tuition for grade 9-12 is $10,895.  Additional student fees, uniform costs, and residence charges may apply.  The rest of the fees are found here. For International students, tuition & room and board costs are $19,500.

Do we get a tax receipt for our school fees?

Yes.  The portion of the payment that can be reasonably allocated as religious instruction, may be treated as the eligible amount of which an official receipt for tax purposes can be issued. These are issued by February 28th for the previous calendar year.

Do you have payment options?

Yes. We work in partnership with Canadian Education Payment Plan. Your payments are calculated over the agreed upon months, then are withdrawn from your account automatically on the first of the month. We also are pleased to receive complete payment in September.

What method of payment can I use?

Payments for additional charges (i.e. uniforms) may be made by cheque, Visa, Mastercard, debit card, or cash. These payment options can be made on tuition or room and board as well, if paid in September.

Can I donate automatically every month?

You sure can!  Click here to connect to Canada Helps which is a simple convenient way for you to give automatically to MCI.  Members of any credit union can also set up automatic monthly giving through online banking.  Your automatic monthly gift makes you a part of our circle of Stookie Sustainers who are building a stronger MCI legacy every month.

MCI is a proud member of CCCC.

A restricted contribution designated in support of a program or a single project which is approved by the board will be used for the purpose for which it was given. We make our policy dealing with donor designated funds known to all donors and potential donors by printing it on all fundraising material. To avoid being legally precluded from using designated funds at all if a project is oversubscribed or is terminated, the following policy is in place and is published:“Spending of funds is confined to MCI Board approved programs and projects. Each contribution directed toward an approved program or project will be used as restricted with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason as determined by the MCI Board, the remaining restricted contributions will be used where most needed.”The board of Mennonite Collegiate Institute has adopted the preceding Code as its policy. In so doing, the governing board commits itself to being the responsible custodian of contributions received to pursue the organization’s objects, to exercise due care concerning the governance of fundraising and financial reporting, and to ensure, to the best of its ability, that the organization adheres to the provisions of the Code. It is hereby confirmed that each member of the governing board and staff has received a copy of the Code and that a copy will also be provided to each person who is subsequently elected to the governing board or appointed to the staff.
