Blues boys open season with win over Morris
September 11, 2009

The MCI Blues boys soccer team kicked off their season on Thursday night in Gretna. Thanks to what coach Lester Schellenberg called "a great effort and good amount of passing and thoughtful play", the Blues downed Morris 3-1.

MCI's first goal of the season came off the head of Keenan Wiebe, who benefited from a great right-side cross from Shawn Franz. Craig Neufeld and Mehul Patel scored the team's other goals.

In the girl's game, MCI got off to a slow start, falling behind 1-0. Despite a strong second half that saw them produce many chances, the Blues were unable to find the back of the net.
