Fall Celebration: MCI welcomes 2007 CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year
With a new school year just around the corner, summer is almost over. While this reality may be disheartening for some, MCI is celebrating the changing of seasons. The school’s Fall Celebration will take place on September 21. Organizer Tammy Rempel notes that while the event coincides with MCI’s Homecoming, it is meant to bring together the larger southern Manitoba community.
“This event is an invitation for the community to gather together and enjoy great food, fabulous friendships and amazing entertainment. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the changing seasons and the beginning of another school year,” she said.
This year’s performer is no stranger to fans of country music. Brad Johner, winner of the Canadian Country Music Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 2007, will headline the show. Johner’s performance will be part of the larger western theme for the evening that includes what Rempel describes as a “downhome Western feast.” With a lineup like that, Rempel has high hopes for the event.
“What I want to see come out of this event is people getting together, having a great time, laughing, smiling and wanting to come back again and again,” she said.
Tickets for the Fall Celebration, which include the dinner and the concert, are $30 and can be reserved by calling the school at 327-5891. Dinner starts at 5:00 p.m. and the concert follows at 7:00 p.m..
