Aubin too much for Blues to handle

With a playoff date between the two teams already set for next Tuesday, the MCI Blues and Carman Cougars met in the final regular season game of the Zone IV calendar. The Cougars came out looking to avenge their 74-49 loss at MCI earlier in the year. The game went back and forth early, with Carman gaining momentum near the end the half. The Cougars entered the break with a 46-36 lead.

After making some minor defensive adjustments, the Blues stormed back in the third quarter to take the lead. A balanced attack helped the Blues swing the momentum, as eight Blues got on the scoresheet in the third frame.

In the end, Carman's captain Jared Aubin proved to be too tough of a matchup for the Blues. Aubin shredded MCI's defense in the fourth quarter scoring 14 of his 43 points in the final ten minutes of play.

"We played a great game, but we just didn't have an answer for him. When one player can take over a game like that, you can make adjustments as a coach, but you've got to hope that he cools off at some point. That just didn't happen tonight," said MCI's assistant coach Jeremy Siemens.

Ethan Rempel (20), Dylan Shrupka (13), Eric Reimer (12) and Ryan Pauls (11) all finished in double digit scoring for the Blues.
