Blues drop season opening double-header to Aces

In the first MCI boys baseball game in years, the Blues had a respectable debut against the perrenial powerhouse W.C. Miller Aces. Despite missing their two projected starters (Craig Neufeld and Darcy Martens) due to illness, the Blues were able to put up a good fight, losing 3-1 and 8-0.

Josh Froese pitched a fantastic complete game in the opener, holding the Aces to only a handful of hits. Dylan Reimer scored the lone run of the game for the Blues.

In the second game the Blues defence showed some rust, which resulted in unearned W.C. Miller runs. Ryan Pauls put forward a good effort on the mound, but the Blues couldn't find the offence to support him.

The Blues next games come Thursday in a double-header in Sanford.
