MCI set to produce alumni/community drama
With the school’s annual spring musical still months away, the acting bug has bitten MCI early this year. For the first time in school history, MCI will produce an alumni drama. The two-night production will be held in mid-November and will feature a cast former students, current students and members of the larger community. Organizer Tammy Rempel notes that bringing together people from the town and school communities was one of the goals of the drama.
“We all live in this town, but there aren’t often opportunities for the two communities to come together. This drama allows that to happen”, said Rempel.
The drama is entitled “Love is a Raincoat” and is based on a locally-written script. Playwright Ellie Reimer, an MCI grad of 1961, produced the story specifically for this occasion. The romantic-comedy revolves around the lives of teachers in a southern Manitoba town.
The play will run November 14 & 15. Tickets are $10/students and $15/adults. Call 327-5891 to reserve your seat.
