France Trip 2011

Lois Haase is quoted as saying, “Travel broadens the mind, flattens the finances, and lengthens the conversation.” Students who have participated previously have often commented, and could talk for hours, on how they have been “blown away” by what they saw and experienced. The different history, architecture, customs, food, language and so many sounds and smells will stay with them forever. Travelling, they admit, comes at a cost but was worth every penny!
The third MCI European trip is finalized for the spring break of 2011.  The trip is called “Paris and the Châteaux”. It is a nine day trip (including fly days) to Paris, Versailles, the Loire Valley (castles), Brittany (Mont. St. Michel and St. Malo) and Normandy (locations of World War II battles).

The tour company is called EF Tours which you can visit on line at eftours.ca. They have over forty years of school travelling experience.  Have a look at the map below for a map of the tour.  The numbers in parenthesis represent the nights stayed in each location. The two day trip extension goes to the French Riviera which we will not be doing as a group.

A detailed itinerary of the trip can be picked up from Mr. Schellenberg. An application form may also be picked up when desired.
The tour is open to students who will be in grades 11 and 12 in the 2010-2011 school year (present grade 10s and 11s). Participants need not be taking French classes in school to participate but it would definitely be an asset.

Program fee: $2,290  (includes flights, tourist hotels, breakfast and suppers, tour guide, entrance fees, land transportation)

Departure fees : $549  (airport fees , fuel surcharges, etc.)
Weekend supplement: $40
All-Inclusive Protection Plan: $129 (private insurance could be purchased)
Tips for tour guide and bus driver: $65 (approximate)

Approximate Total: $ 3,073   (plus spending money for lunches, incidentals and souvenirs)   

The adult supplement for parents who wish to chaperone is $360 in addition to the student fee.
